15 of My Most Anticipated Book Releases of 2018

Hey, everyone! Since I have a newly remodeled blog that’s all shiny and fresh, I thought I might actually, you know, post on it. So here are 15 of my most anticipated books of 2018. Keep in mind that there are literally hundreds of YA books coming out this year, and so many of them sound so amazing, so this is just a small selection of the releases on my radar this year. Also, this list is in chronological order, so the top of the list starts with books coming out the soonest.

31394234

“Zenith” out Jan. 16th

I am SO PUMPED for this book to finally hit shelves! I have been following both Lindsey and Sasha for years now and I cannot wait to see their work, which I’m certain will be amazing and out-of-this-world levels of epic. From even just the first short portion that they released on ebook what feels like years ago, was amazing. Since then my love for high sci fi has grown even more, and I can hardly wait to go on the crazy cool adventure that I know is waiting for me inside that beautiful, beautiful cover.

Ink, Iron, and Glass (Ink, Iron, and Glass, #1)

“Ink, Iron, and Glass” out Feb. 20th

I only recently found out about this one on Goodreads, but I thought it sounded so atmospheric and unique that I couldn’t help but be immensely interested in this first installment of a new series that I think is going to be a special one.

Daughter of the Siren Queen (Daughter of the Pirate King, #2)

“Daughter of the Siren Queen” out Feb. 27th

When I think about this book coming out, I can’t form words that sounds anything like english. From that plot to the eye meltingly stunning cover, I need everything about this book to be in my hands yesterday.

Inkmistress (Of Fire and Stars #0.5)

“Inkmistress” out March 6th

I haven’t read “Of Fire and Stars” which is this author’s first book, but I have the book ready and waiting for me. I know that once I read “Of Fire and Stars”, I am going to want more of the writing and representation IMMEDIATELY, so I am trying to make myself wait until closer to the release of Inkmistress. But waiting is hard when it comes to fantastic books.

Pacifica

“Pacifica” out March 6th

I love pirates. Plain and simple. They are one of my favorite things and have always been one of my favorite things. Also one of my short stories (A PIRATE ONE) is currently being published in an anthology coming out this spring…basically I have a thing for pirates. This book sounds so dramatic and full to the brim with adventure and I need to get my hands on it IMMEDIATELY!

Leah on the Offbeat

“Leah On the Offbeat” out April 24th

Don’t even get me started on how ecstatic I am that this book is going to be a thing. I read “Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda” for the first time in 2017 (and then 2 more times after that) and I absolutely fell in LOVE with everything about it. The writing, the voice, and how “freaking” adorable Simon is. Leah was always a character that confused and intrigued me and I am over the actual moon that we are finally going to get to see more of her and the gang.

Royals

“Royals” out May 1st

Even the synopsis drips with the promise of humor and a strong narrative voice. The story sounds cute and fun, but mix that with Rachel Hawkins’ writing style, and you have one incredibly awesome book full of adventure, romance, and side-stitch inducing laughter.

Listen to Your Heart

“Listen to Your Heart” out May 29th

A new Kasie West book! Need I say more? The cover image drips with the feel of summer, and the premise sounds ADORABLE. I cannot wait to get my hands on this book, and the other stories that Kasie west has coming out soon. I love her writing, her characters, her unique and light-hearted storylines, and her books have always been and will always be my go-to feel good contemporaries.

When Life Gives You Lululemons

“When Life Gives You Lululemons” out June 5th

A new book in “The Devil Wears Prada” world? Um? YES! This book sounds like it will be heaped with just as much sarcasm, stress, and glam as “The Devil Wears Prada”. I am so excited to see what the characters have in store for them in this new installment.

Save the Date

“Save the Date” out June 5th

Did someone say a new Morgan Matson book was coming out this summer? I just wanted to be sure. I couldn’t hear you over the sound of my hysterical screaming the second I saw the cover and read the synopsis. I need this book in my hands right this very second, but I also am happy to wait until summer to read it for The Full Effect. I’m pretty sure Morgan’s books are made of actual gold and sunlight, so I am going to savor every single moment of the reading-it-for-the-first-time experience.

Sea Witch

“Sea Witch” out July 31st

This book sounds absolutely amazing and my heart aches that we have to wait until the end of July to read it. Much like “The Siren” by Kiera Cass, this book follows themes of mermaids/sirens, little seaside towns, losing those you love, and how romance can only complicate all of the above. I am thrilled by the idea of another book like “The Siren” and I will be making a special place in my summer TBR for this beauty the second that it releases.

Untitled (Throne of Glass, #7)

“Untitled Throne of Glass 7” out Sep. 4th

I feel like I don’t even need to say anything about this one. Which is good, because I don’t have any words. We have no title or cover, but the countdown is on for the final (?) book in the ToG series. I am in denial. I mean, I want the book, but I am uncertain that I am emotionally stable enough to handle one of my favorite series in all of time and space coming to a close. Pro tip time! Since, obviously, this book is going to make your heart explode all over the place, consider reading the series closer on ebook so as not to cover your beautiful hardcover in guts and feels.

Crystal Blade (Burning Glass, #2)

“Frozen Reign” out Sep. 4th

(Cover pictured is for book 2 in the trilogy, as the cover for Frozen Reign is not yet out.)

Another series closer! No! I refuse to let go! I have separation anxiety! The breathtaking “Burning Glass” series that has held an incredible and extremely special place in my heart for the last few years, is finally coming to a close in what I know will be a marvelously epic conclusion that also blows my heart into a million pieces. I am simultaneously counting down the days and hoping the day never arrives. Why do series finishers always have to be so bittersweet?

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue (Guide, #1)

“The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy” out Oct. 2nd

(Again with the placeholder cover from a different book in the series…)

I am currently (as of writing this post) just over 100 pages into “The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue” and it’s one of those books that makes you laugh, cry, and feel deeply at home…and this is only the first 100 pages, people! The fact that there is more to come with these characters, specifically the kick-butt, take-no-crap ladies, is SO EXCITING! And also it has an incredible title. I have kind of a thing about pirates, so I had to do some breathing exercises when I first heard the title so as not to run screaming to the publishers office and demand to read it at once.

What If It's Us

“What if it’s Us” out Oct. 2nd

Though I have never read one of Adam Silvera’s books (I have had fear instilled in me from seeing his reputation as a very tear jerking author), I know that once I do get to them, I will love them. As I mention before, I LOVE Becky Albertalli. So these two leading YA authors writing a book together sounds like a phenomenal idea and the only thing that sucks about this book is the fact that we have to wait just under a year for it. There hasn’t been a full synopsis reveal yet (I don’t think), so all that we know so far is that two exes (?) meet in the post office as one of them is shipping back the other’s things. It sounds like it will be the perfect blend of sweet, awkward, and potentially heart wrenching that these authors are oh-so-known for.

Thank you for stopping by and reading this post! Obviously there are so, SO many amazing books releasing this year and this is only a fraction of them, so I recommend checking out your favorite author’s pages for updates on their upcoming releases, and also just having a good poke around Goodreads to find some new stuff. As always, if you enjoyed it, please hit the like button, follow this blog by email if you haven’t already to be notified whenever I post something new, check out my other social media pages, and comment down below with what books you can hardly wait for in 2018! Did any on my list also make it onto yours? Let me know!

Happy reading,

Jamie
